RecruitmentAs we adventure through the lands of Hyboria, we're bound to meet like minded people that need a home. Based on the quality people we already have in the Guild, we think everyone knows the kind of people we're looking for. We want quality over quantity. Those few we recruit will embody everything we stand for: Unity in Excellence.
If a member finds a new recruit:
Give them the webite/message board address and have them review our Charter/Policies.
Have the recruit fill out the application on the site.
Have that recruit talk with an officer/leader.
If an officer/leader finds a new recruit:
Give them the website/message board address and have them review our Charter/Policies.
Have that recruit fill out the application on the site.
Answer any questions. Ask the appropriate questions.
If everything checks out:
Give the vent information, and offer an invite.
Please explain the probation period.
Recruits please remember that your actions will reflect on the people vouching for you and the guild as a whole. Once recruits are in the guild, they will go through a probation period of one (1) week. During this week they must be active (numbers of days required may vary).
If for some reason we limit recruitment by any means for whatever reason (specific classes, specific number of available slots, etc) and we have multiple recruits, we will vote on the potential the recruit(s), this may or may not be a guild wide decision. Special consideration may be given to recruits for any reason.
If a recruit being considered comes as a package deal with other people, all those attached must have at least met/talked to the recruiter. While we don't want to break up friends or a group of players committed to each other, we still need to ensure all our potential members fit our ideals.
If it is a consistant theme that a Black Hand member has been recruititng poor canidates, the guild officers/leaders reserve the right to extend any probation period for new recruits and possibly reject recruits from this member outright. Please note this will not affect their membership in anyway. Just means they need a little more time to understand what we are truly looking for in new members.
CommunicationOur primary form of guild comminucation in game will be Ventrilo (Vent). It's a faster form of communication, which let's people do what they need to do; not stop, read, and type a reply. In typed text, sometimes feeling or intent can be misunderstood. Not sure how many times a joke was typed and misinterrpreted and all hell broke loose. We use ventrilo, and to be an active member of the guild, you will need ventrilo as well. We strongly recommend a headset with mic, as language can be "colorful" at times; mature game, mature players, adult like language. Special note: If your shy, it's ok. You don't need to talk (we'd like you to) but at least be able to listen.
Disclaimer:
Our membership will use ventrillo responsibly. That means you can and will be removed from ventrilo if you are drunk, under the influence of drugs, or decide to be excessively negative in any fashion. If you have an issue that needs to be discussed, take it to a private channel. DO NOT ruin someone else's game time. With that said, we're not telling you can't drink or partake of any substance you wish. Everyone loves a cold one now and then. You just can not do it and be on ventrilo. Most of us do not wanna deal with the antics.
Learn to use the various chat channels available. There's so many avenues to chat that I won't list them all here. When using open channels remember that your words represent the guild tag your wearing. Be Respectful.
Discussions. We wish to promote open dialogue between our players. There's almost nothing better in the world than the free exchange of ideas and thoughts. Feel free to discuss and debate various topics. Keep in mind though that some topics may be offensive to others. Chat channels may not be the best place to debate politics or religion. You can create a private chat channel or send private tells to discuss "hot" topics or topics you think will offend someone. Again we don't wish to censor anyone, but there are other avenues in which to pursue this open minded conversation.
Arguments/Debates. Debates are fine. In fact we like debates, as long as it's intelligent and well thought out. What we don't need/want are full blown arguments. We are all friends here. We know that misunderstandings happen. People will get upset and eventually an argument will break out. In the event this happens the parties engaged in the disagreement should seek resolution on their own and keep it out of guild chat and other open forums. No need for others to have their gaming experience ruined because of a disagreement. If for some reason the parties can not resolve the issue or the issue is affecting the guild as a whole, the guild leadership reserves the right to mediate the argument in a private chat channel to reach a solution. Officers will do their best to render unbiased decisions and any such decisions are final. Remember, in the end we're all friends here. While we may be at each others throats for a lil while, there should be nothing that would prevent us from resolving the issue and going back to being friends.
LootWe've seen loot become a problem for many people, in many games. It will not be an issue here. Guild groups will always be Need Before Greed (NBG). NBG doesn't always mean if you need it roll on it. It means that you should look at all angles and all players present within the guild group. Then determine, after all the factors have been considered, who truly benefits the most from an item. If each player in the group goes through this thinking process, then there should be no problems. Also don't be a loot whore. If you get an item, pass on some stuff for other people. An example: If an awesome Breastplate drops and you "win" it, then you shouldn't roll on awesome sword that drops if other people need it. Since you've already won something, defer to someone else. Although, if no one needs it/can use it, then it's all good. Remember we will not succeed because we've geared out one person, we're a single entity as strong as our weakest link.
Any/All recruits should be considered members for consideration in loot. They worked for the loot in the group, only fair they should have a shot at loot. This should go without saying. If we're adding them to our family, they should be treated like family. No this doesn't mean you can abuse new recruits (well maybe a little). Until that person has decided not to join with us.
ANY AND ALL disputes or disagreements over loot between guild members will NOT be argued in guild or group channels and disputes with non-guild players in open channels is discouraged. ALL disputes between guild members are to be discussed in private tells or a private custom chat channel. If the individual members cannot come to an accord on the issue then a guild officer will be consulted and any decision will be final. Guild officers will do their very best to be impartial with any decision.
If a guildmate loots an item, outside of a guild group. It's their loot do wish as they please. If they pass on to a guildmate, or sell it, there is no dispute. They worked for it, it's theirs.
There is a small exception to the above: If a player forms a Guild group to help attain an specific item then the person forming the group will obviously get to loot the item. An example: Bob wants "Sword X" that drops from MeanMob_09. He gets 5 other guildmates to help. Bob's in luck! "Sword X" dropped. Bob would get to loot, because he did the research, gathered the information, and organized the group. If the mob dropped other items, then others in the group would be permitted a chance to loot those other items (as per the guidelines above).
Guild servicesWe have a lot of players that will probably specialize in a wide range of fields/skills/trades. They are under NO Guild obligation to provide these services, but do so as a benefit to members.
We will NOT be selling to guildmates. We ask that our members make thier skills available to guildmates at cost, if they choose to offer those services at all. If you wish to make items and sell them to other players for profit by all means, go right ahead.
Remember that costs can add up quickly for anything in the game. If you need an item crafted, try to provide the raw materials and fuels -OR- make coin arragements for those materials and fuels.
Please remember that crafting items for you takes coin. Please give others the time they need to help you. Ask for the service in advance and be patient. We all get anxious at times, and need a hand, but we all have things that we wish to accomplish at certain times. If you know you'll want an item, ask before ya can use it and give the crafters time to make it. If you have a quest that ya can't solo, try to set up a time for people to help you.
